How To Edit A Video In Minutes Using Ulead VideoStudio 11

1. Connect your DV camera into the PC. It should make a noise and tell you it’s recognizes your camera.
2. Open up ulead video studio and click on the video editor.
3. In the video editor click on the capture tab. The program should now recognize that a camera is connected. Click on the capture video and away u go.
(TIP: if that doesn’t happen don’t worry. Close the program and click on the program widows movie maker. Inside movie maker click on capture video and that should do the trick)
So back to video studio
4. Now once you have up your video loaded on the PC the editing can start. Click the edit tab.
5. Once there load your video by clicking on the load video button which look like an open folder logo next to the word video.
6. Find where your video is and open it.
7. Next drag and drop your video in to the story board at the bottom of the screen, it’s written “drag and drop video clip here”
8. Now click on the little button that says multi trim video. This will enable you to edit your video (i.e. cut out the bits you want).
9. Now in this screen you can use the F3 and F4 key to put markers as to the sections you want.
10. Press the play button, and then click F3 when you want to start (i.e. the part of the video you want to keep).
11. When you get to a part you want to stop press F4
(TIP: Use the jog wheel next to the video time – this will help you move the video much slower)
12. So now you’ve collected a group of little video from your big one.
13. Click ok and they will all be put together as one big video.
14. You can now watch your video if you click on play with is located underneath where you can see your video.
15. So you’ve got a video but only people can only watch it on your PC. So hit the share button.
16. I’ve found that if you first create a video file then use your regular burn software to burn the disc. BUT you can simple choose create disc and follow this to make your DVD disc.

There is no doubt that video is taking the web by storm, especially with web 2.0 (I still can't get a clear definition of this, but it basically means people are forming little communities online).
Having used some blog sites that were easy enough, adding video to them was quite difficult or not even an option with some. I use blogging to get traffic to my web sites, and I also use video to -
1- build trust with my viewer
2 - demo products or services
3 - fun!
People will remember far more of what they see and hear together, so if you have a business message video is fast going to become the norm. Be ahead of the game now and have the edge.
To edit your blogs you could try the service I use, which for a small fee actually gives you so many more features that I won't go into here. It transcodes my videos into streaming media and hosts it for me. If I want to edit my video here I use Windows Movie Maker, which makes it very easy to add transitions, merge 2 or more video clips and add text.
Everything is click and drag which is so easy I can use it!
If you are unlucky enough to be using another form blog site and want to add video then you have a much harder job of knowing which video is where and editing it. Again, Windows movie maker would be the preferred choice - it's free and pretty effective.

How to Edit Youtube Video

Watching Youtube video has become an indispensable part of our internet life. With a number of FLV downloading tools emerging, more and more people prefer to download and reedit it in their own style. However, there is no such a software that can deal with FLV editing. What’s the reason? Youtube video is in a FLV format, which is different from other video format, because it is highly compressed. Someone thinks that it is ineditable.
When they want to edit it, they would like to convert it to other video format first, such as AVI or Mpeg, and then convert it back after editing. The preparation for the editing seems like a complex process. What’s more, the key frames lost in the FLV compression will not be reproduced after converted to other less compressed format. The added frames you see in it are just the repeated frames of the compressed FLV. So it is not wise enough to bare such an inconvenience before FLV editing.

Digital cameras have come a long ways in the past few years. They are now more affordable and feature rich than ever. A comprehensive list of features and advice for choosing a digital camera is beyond the scope of this article, but this article will highlight one of the most popular features, video capture capability.
With a video capture feature on your camera, you can take low to medium quality video footage using your digital camera. All cameras with video capture are not created equal, though. Here are some things to check on before buying a camera with video capture:
1 – Sound
Does the camera support sound? If so, does it capture it through a built in microphone, or does it have an input for you to plug in an external microphone?
2- Video Quality
There are two main factors that determine video quality – resolution and frames per second. The higher the resolution, and the higher the number of frames per second, the higher quality the video.
3- Video format
What format is the video in? Ideally, it will be in a standard, easy to edit format, such as MPEG. Some cameras use proprietary video formats, which means that you can't edit your videos with most editors. Windows Movie Maker, which comes free with Windows, is a great editor to use for most generic video formats.
4- Video length
Some cameras limit the length of video clips you can take, often to 30 seconds. This can be a great aggravation. The better cameras allow you to take as long of a video clip as your camera's memory can hold. Of course, you can add a larger memory stick to take a longer video clip. You can now get memory sticks up to 2 GB or larger.

Why Can't I Edit My Video?

I took some video with my digital camera and the resulting files were in the AVI format. When I imported them to my video editing tool, I was not able to edit them. Help!
It just so happens that I had the same experience. I finally figured out the problem was that all AVI files are not the same.
Apparently, the video that most current still image cameras shoot is what is called Motion JPEG video. This video is actually a series of still frames added together to create a moving picture. In order for these AVI or MPEG files to open correctly in some video editing programs, you’ll need a third party codec installed.
Some folks at Sony Media Software Customer Support further suggested…
You would need to find a program that is able to open this file that can convert the file to just a regular AVI using the Microsoft AVI codec instead of a DivX MPEG 4 codec or render it to an MPEG 2 file.
If all of this has your head spinning, don’t worry. There is an easier way around the problem.
There are lots of video converter software programs that can fix this for you. I tried the free trials for a half dozen of them and my favorite was the Xilisoft Video Converter.

Video Editing Software - Camtasia Studio

Camtasia Studio is one of the most popularly recommended video editing software programs. For what it is, Camtasia is a great program BUT (and this is a very BIG BUT) it is absolutely NOT the right software for most video editing projects. To hear some people recommend it though, you sure would get the impression that it is the be-all and end-all for video editing.
It's NOT.
A question from a reader the other day really drove this home. He is in the cooking niche and he wanted to produce a cooking show, kind of like Emeril. He bought a bunch of video equipment, including Camtasia for editing. Problem is, for him, Camtasia is essentially worthless.
Why?
Camtasia is designed to make screen capture videos. This means that the main function of the software is the ability to record whatever is on your computer screen. Let's say you want to make a video tutorial about how to use a computer application. Camtasia will allow you to record screen shots of the application when it is open on your computer. You can demonstrate how the software works using these screen shots. You can add audio, transitions and titles.
Camtasia is also good for making videos out of Power Point slides.
But my friend who wanted to edit his cooking show was out of luck because Camtasia is NOT designed to edit an entire show out of nothing but video you shoot with a regular video camcorder.
You can add a little bit of camera video to a Camtasia production, but it is recommended that you use that video as a small inset, a picture-in-picture (PIP) display. In this way, the camera video is designed to be an adjunct to the screen capture video. The screen capture video (or power point video) makes up the bulk of your show.
If you want to make a show out of video you shoot with a standard video camcorder, then you need a standard video editing program, like Windows Movie Maker, Sony Vegas, Adobe Premier or Final Cut, to name just a few.

So if you wanted to show your computer screen in a video you are editing with Windows Movie Maker, you would either have to use a jpeg or you would need to videotape your computer screen using a video camera and then capture that video into Movie Maker in the same way you captured your vacation video. Whether Camtasia is right for you depends entirely on what kind of video you want to make.

How to Add Audio to Video

Digital media is everywhere you look. Music and video production have made it to the grass roots level thanks to the affordability and widespread use of powerful computers.
Inexpensive digital video cameras are widely available, and older analog video cameras can be connected to a computer through a video card to download movies to the computer for editing, storage, and distribution to friends and relatives over the internet.
It has become fairly easy to edit your own videos, and there are many software packages available aimed at the amateur. The Windows operating system has its own video editing package called Windows Movie Maker that allows you to produce professional-looking videos.
As you explore this exciting new world, you will inevitably come up with the need to edit the audio portion of your video file. The sound quality of most video cameras is not great, so you may want to process the sound or replace it all together with music or voice-overs.
It is very easy to separate the audio from the video. Free software packages that do this task include Windows Media Encoder from Microsoft (if you are working with WMV video files) and VirtualDub (if you are working with AVI files). Either of these programs (and many others) allow you to save the audio portion of video file quickly and easily.
Once you have your audio file, you can process it for noise reduction, bring up the volume, add music or do any digital magic to it that you desire.
With many video editing packages, however, it isn’t necessary to split the audio to a separate file. Even simple packages like Windows Movie Maker have basic audio editing functions, and you can add separate music or voice tracks and mix all of them together.
If you have a particular audio file that you would like to use in your video (maybe a special effect or a voice over that you have recorded separately) simply add that file to the list of media to be included in the video. Other media formats can be separate video files, picture files or graphics.

Video Editing is the process of modifying segments of video hots to form another piece of video. Editing is one the fundamental steps of the post production process. Other tasks include titling, color correction, sound mixing, and more.
The term "editing" involves the following:
1. Modifying sections of video and/or audio clips.

Converting Digital Video Files

I love digital video more than ice cream. BUT, incompatible digital video file formats can by a royal pain in the bazookie.
I heard from a reader the other day who bought a Sony HD video camera then was sorely disappointed to learn that the video format the camera recorded in was incompatible with video editing software. In other words, he could not capture the video he shot on his new camera into his video editing software.
This is a very common problem. He thought he had to run out and buy another camera, one that will record in a video editing friendly format. Not necessarily, I said.
Here's the deal. Many cameras today record in mpeg2 format. MPEG2 is a great format. It is what works with DVD players. When you rent a Hollywood movie from Blockbuster, it will be on a disc in MPEG2 format. Almost all commercial DVD discs are MPEG2 format, making it extremely common.
So naturally, MPEG2 does not work with most video editing software. It does not work on the internet.
Yup, a pain in the bazookie. Video camera manufacturers decided that more people were interested in playing their video on their home DVD unit than they were on editing their video on a computer. So, trying to please the masses, many camera manufacturers opted to record in MPEG 2 format. That way, you can immediately play the video disc you just shot in your DVD player. But you can not capture it in your computer and edit it. Incompatible digital video file format.
Conversion software to the rescue. Every software incompatibility has its corresponding software conversion fix. If you have MPEG2 video you need to convert in order to edit, you need some conversion software called Stream Clip. It is free. You can download it from the Squared 5 website. There are versions for both Mac and Windows.
Using stream clip is easy. You open the program, open your file, and then export it in any one of several formats. DV stream and quick time are probably your best bets for editing. AVI should work too.
When you open the MPEG2 files, you will notice that the video is distributed across multiple file folders. Open the VOB file, choose yes to opening all associated files, and then export it.
Stream clip also converts back into MPEG2 from any of the other formats.
So if you need to convert your video into a format compatible with editing, chances are good that stream clip is your answer.
If you are buying a new camera, keep this in mind. If you know you are going to be doing a lot of editing, make sure your new camera does not record in mpeg2 unless you do not mind converting it every single time.

How to Create a Video Biography

Have you ever thought of making a video biography of your loved one before? Here are some tips on how to create your very own video biography:
Equipment Required:
• Camcorder with tripod and blank tape or disc
• Computer
• Movie Software
• DVD Burner
• DVD
Steps to Make Your Video Biography
1. Start out by forming a list of questions you'd like your loved one to talk about. Have her read it beforehand if she's nervous, or keep it till the last minute to get honest, uncanned answers. It's up to you.
2. Set up your camcorder on your tripod. Have only your subject in the frame. Keep her eyes in the first top third of the frame filling up a good portion of the screen with her face only. Start recording in SP mode. If you have a camcorder with a microphone jack use a lapel mic for better sound quality.
3. Sit opposite of each other and begin by having her state her full name and birth date. Start asking her your list of questions and having her answer them on tape. Try to keep your comments and laughter to a minimum as you will want only her voice to be heard.

You can get a lot of decent pieces of software online, but none of them will do the work of a professional piece of software. You may wonder why there's not more quality software available for free. There are some good reasons for this.
Not all videos are created equally. If you've spent any amount of time trying to view videos online or trying to record your own videos with a digital video recorder, you've encountered the wide variety of digital formats that are available. There are dozens of formats and several of them that are popular, like avi, mpeg, wmv, mov, and flv.
What a lot of people don't realize is that each of these formats is packaged in another program, called a codec. Codecs are the packages that help facilitate the different software that allows you to view movies. Many of these codecs are patented. Arranging Video Clips to Match Sound in Avid Xpress Pro

All right here it goes:
1. First, import and arrange the required audio and video files in the bin.
2. Edit your audio into timeline as per the requirement

Now we'll have to arrange the video clips. You need not arrange them all one by one.... This tutorial is to eliminate that particular task. So, here goes the shortcut for that entire process.
3. Map the 'replace edit' and 'add edit' buttons to keys.
4. To do that, click the SETTINGS tab from Project window.
5. Double click the "KEYBOARD".

Now you get a virtual keyboard.
Then go to TOOLS menu and open command palette, (or press Ctrl+3). Then you should get the screen like this:
6. Now click on the EDIT tab from the Command palette, and click the "Button to Button reassignment" (the one on the bottom left of the Command Panel). That turns to Purple.
7. Click and Drag "REPLACE EDIT" button onto any key you desire... (in my case here, it is "Y" key).
8. Likewise, you also need to assign "ADD EDIT" button to some key also. (I've already assigned it to 'H' key in my case).
Now we've got "REPLACE EDIT" assigned to 'Y' key, and "ADD EDIT" to 'H' key.
9. Now press "ACTIVE PALETTE" (in the bottom middle). It turns to Purple now.
10. Now close both the "KEYBOARD" and the "COMMAND PALETTE" windows.
11. Now deselect only audio track. (By clicking on the name of the track).and select one video track where you want to edit your video segments. Here I've taken V1 track.
12. Listen to the audio track twice or thrice, to get an idea of the tempo.
13. Now is the time to add edit points on V1 filler.
14. Place the position indicator at the beginning of the track.
15. Play. And keep hitting "H" key (ADD EDIT), according to the beat. This creates edit points along the timeline.

You should be able to see the black lines in the dark gray area (The V1 track).
16. Place your position indicator at the first edit point in the timeline.
17. Load your required footage into source monitor,
18. Move your position indicator to the point you want to edit (in the source monitor).
19. Now press "Y".
20. This will insert that particular clip's point into the Timeline; and it will be 'filled' until the next "EDIT POINT".
21. Now click on the Composer Window to activate and Press "S" Key from your keyboard, to send your position indicator to the Edit Point.

22. Repeat steps 18 through 20 until you 'fill' the required space on the timeline.
